Theme: "What is hiding in the snow is revealed in the thaw"

Accounting mayhem is a small game where you play as the accountant and office manager for an unnamed company.

You work in an office with three colleagues. Shaun, Karen and Bob the Janitor.

Each day you receive an order quota that you must fulfill to keep the boss and your greedy colleagues happy. But don't let the boss see all the junk you ordered or you will be fired.

Office policy:
Don't miss your order quota...
Don't disappoint your colleagues...
Don't get caught embezzling company resources...
Or you will be FIRED!

Interpretation of theme:

"What is hiding in the snow is revealed in the thaw" is a Swedish proverb meaning eventually, all hidden things will be revealed. Us being a bit burnt out on snow related games. Our interpretation is about managing a growing pile of items that might eventually lead to you getting caught wasting company money.

Gameplay

You play the role of an Office manager who is tasked with order management for a company.

You have one job, fulfill your order quota. Luckily you earn commissions based on the total order cost. Your only concern: Keep the boss happy and all is well.

You must send out orders containing the items you need. Most of them come bundled with additional junk. You can either sift through the order pile to find the perfect combination of items, or you can simply order it all and make some additional pocket money.

The boss will be angry if:

You fail to deliver your order
He sees all the items piling up inside your office
Your colleagues tell on you

You have three colleagues also working in the same office. Each making their own demands. If they get what they want they won't tell on you.

It's up to you to manage the ever growing pile of junk.

Physics interactions

Most items in the office interact with physics in some way.

All items have their own physical properties and sound effects.

The main character controller makes extensive use of the unreal physics handle for interactions.

NPC Personalities

Each character have their own distinct personality.

Shaun can be seen slacking in his office.
Karen relentlessly hammers away at her keyboard.
Bob is often found sleeping in the cafeteria.

Their gaits and voices change based on their current mood.

Randomly generated company names

Randomization is a fun way to add variety. All item orders and company names are randomized.

The contents of each order is meant to contain a random assortment of items, some that you need and some that you don't.

Company names and addresses are also randomly generated, for that additional flavor.
